GRENOUER Border Of Misty Times Metal Agen Records
rating: 5,5 of 6
First official album from this band, which strikes as one of the
best (and most original!) black/death metal acts in Russia!
BORDER consists of intro and seven tracks of brilliantly
performed brutal and atmospheric death metal with definite BM
approach (especially in lyrics, written in an abstract, equivocal
way). It has enough tempo changes and memorable melodies, created
with the help of keyboards and viola. Vocals are also worth
mentioning, especially black metal ones A MUST.
GRENOUER Gravehead demo CD
rating: 5 of 6
GRAVEHAED is the relatively new recording by Russias GRENOUER,
the second one, and also the one which was re-issued by Sound Age
Productions lately (although in the shape of MC-album only). Its
comprised of nine songs as well as a creepy intro, and actually I
cant really understand why do these morons in mass media (such
as, for instance, Grindfather Pikhto / incourtesy of
Necronomicon& Painkiller magazines) consider it techno death
or anything alike. Basically, its an atmospheric and pretty
melodic death spiced with plenty of black metal seeds. Pretty
complicated, yes; but still far from being vanguard. Structurally
its very well crafted, lyrically very mystical, overall
musically very exciting. Vocals vary from mild death metal growls
to harsh BM shrieks passing through THE GATHERING93 alike
clean voice, which lies more on an alternative side. Finally,
GRAVEHEAD is definitely a splendorous effort when it comes to
both: performance and execution.
